Small Shifts That Make a Big Difference

It’s easy to lose yourself when life is busy. My fifth child turns one next month, and even as I type this, my teenager is texting me in class. The phone doesn’t stop, the chores never end, and the washing pile seems eternal. I often eat last and still find myself doing chores past 9pm — laundry, washing up, putting clothes away… there’s always something to do. Add two dogs and three cats, and some days it feels like there’s no space left for me.
Finding Small Moments for Me
Even in the chaos, I’ve found tiny ways to reconnect. I’m lucky to live in a beautiful seaside town, and I choose to walk the scenic way home, rain or shine. The sunlight, the clouds, the rough sea — those 15 minutes with nature give me space away from the hustle, the cars, and other people’s energy.
I also make room for small rituals:
A morning coconut mocha
Music I love while pushing the buggy
Lighting incense at home
I know that once I step through the door, chores and duties await — but those moments remind me that I exist beyond my responsibilities. Even ten minutes can make a difference.
Shifting Mindset
Small shifts aren’t just about self-care — they’re about mindset. Seeing chores and daily duties as purposeful, practicing gratitude, and pausing before reacting help me feel grounded. I’ve disciplined myself not to doom-scroll — instead of flicking endlessly through other people’s highlight reels, I take action, even if it’s small.
I ask myself: Who am I? What do I want? I consciously explore my passions and interests, reclaiming the parts of me that get lost in the daily grind. Focusing on long-term goals, even in tiny steps, builds momentum. My mindset has shifted from:

“I can’t do that, I’m too busy.” to
“Anything is possible — small action moves me forward.”
Progress is Quiet, But Powerful
Even carving out a few minutes each day to work on my business matters. Small, consistent steps build stability, move me closer to my goals, and remind me that I’m progressing — not just for my family, but for me too. Writing this blog, sharing my thoughts, and putting myself out there is part of that journey — growing, educating myself, and showing the world a part of who I am.
Life doesn’t have to wait for perfect moments. Progress is quiet, slow, and cumulative. Sometimes, the smallest shifts — the ones that feel almost too little to matter — make the biggest difference.
Life has a way of distracting us from ourselves. Its easy to get lost on the way. Just one decision, one mindset shift, can bring you back into focus.
